A strong statement. But what does it mean these days?
In a series of videos Father Larry Richards attempts to help us discover how to “Become the man God created you to be”.
Here are a few of the things that stuck out to me from the first session.
We are all going to die! We all know that. Some of us are more afraid of death than others. And a large reason for that is our relationship with God. But! If you were to die today what would be the last thought you would like people to say about you? “Great Guy” or” He was the meanest guy I ever knew Now, how do you go about getting people to think that way? In other words decide what your final goal is and determine the course your life has to take from now on to accomplish that goal.
Do you believe God is real? And if so how do you know it? Father Larry blows a lot of our best answers right out of the water. Then he says, “How do I know God is real?” I have a personal relationship with him.” My next thought was Do I “know God personally”
How much time do I spend each day or each week with God? Compared to other things I spend tons of time on like sports, being with friends, watching television or other things.
We all know that building a relationship with anyone or getting better at anything takes time. It isn’t any different with building my relationship with God. If the only time I talk to God is when I want something how do I expect him to respond?
These are just a few of the things that stuck in my mind from the first video. I can hardly wait til the next one. Please join us on 1st and 3rd Saturdays at 8am at the Parish center behind Saint Francis Church in Geneva. “Be a man who lives as a beloved son” Or as Father Larry put it in the first video. “When you die and are standing before God will he say to you, “Well done good and faithful servant”.
