Approximately 16 men attended the meeting Breakfast was from 8:00 – 8:30 After Breakfast Father Mike led us in the opening prayer and followed with prayers for personal intentions The remainder of the meeting was spend updating those present on the schedule for future meetings and various projects through the end of 2017 Gift Basket for raffle: We currently have the basket, wine glasses, cork screw and 4 bottles of wine. Others are to bring bottles of wine and/or wine bottle stoppers to the September 16 th meeting to complete the basket. Once we have filled the basket we will give it to the church to be raffled off with the others in October.EXULT, Men’s Conference: To be held Saturday, October 14 th Currently we have 4 men registered to go. We are hoping for more to register to make a good showing at the conference. We will be setting up carpools to the meeting in the future. There will be no men’s group meeting that Saturday to allow men to attend the conference. Those wishing to attend may register at http://exultrochester.org/ Lots of very dynamic speakers are going to be at the meeting Schedule: The meetings through the end of the year were handed out at the meeting; They are: September 16 October 7 November 4 December 2 December 16 (joint meeting with Women of Peace)
Trunk or Treat (2017): This year’s Trunk or Treat will be held October 31 in conjunction with Women of Peace. To try to enhance attendance the Communications committee will contact local papers, radio stations and make flyers to be posted around town. There will be a note in the bulletin the week before the event. (Communication Committee)
At the event we will be handing out information concerning both groups and what we are all about. (Also information about the Holy Family Festival in December) Holy Family Festival: This year’s Festival will be held December 16 th . Everyone agreed that last year’s festival was a huge success. Once again we are hoping to have food, games and raffles for everyone. The Communication committee will put together flyers to be handed out, see to it that the information is printed in the bulletin and is advertised along with the Trunk or Treat event. When we raffle off items we will include on the raffle ticket space for name and e-mail Coffee/Donuts after Mass: It was decided that we will start with a single mass to see how things go and to work out any issues we may have. The hope is that people will hang around after mass to get to know each other better. It was decided that the 7:30 mass will be our starter. The first coffee/donut hour will take place September 24. (as many men/women as possible are requested to attend to get things started and explain about our groups) Phil, John and Ray will meet before mass September 3 rd to go over the area and determine where things can go and what if anything we need to get started Other business: There was a discussion of material we will be viewing at upcoming meetings There is going to be a pizza dinner for Hobart William Smith with a renowned speaker to discuss abortion. Ray will ask Phil Choffin if his son can attend and speak about what is and is not appropriate conduct. There was discussion about getting more of the men to volunteer at the various events. At both the Trunk or Treat and Holy Family Festival there will be a signup sheet for names/addresses and emails to try to get information out to people to try to get more men and women in both groups (Communications committee to put together) The meeting ended at 9:30 after breakfast was cleaned up.
