Put the Christ Back in Christmas

From Gospel Daily

Today’s Verse: For unto us, a child is born, unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called: Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

Have you ever been to a Christmas season sale, or heard about it on the news? People line up to get the bargains, and rush in, not caring if they hurt someone in the process. The value of Christmas has increasingly been defined by commercialism. It has become trivial to say, “Merry Christmas.” Now, the greeting of choice is, “Happy Holidays.” But, the greatest gift ever given was a baby boy born in a modest stable of simple means. He was born for our salvation, our saving grace. It was a simple gift. Yet, priceless beyond measure. Let’s put the ‘Christ’ back in Christmas. Stand up and say, ‘Merry Christmas.” Spend quality time with family and friends. If you want to give a gift, give the word of God. It is priceless. – Commentary by Lisa M. Leto

Today’s Prayer: Father, help us to realize the beauty and value of the first Christmas. Help us to always remain humble and grateful, Amen.
